MY IDENTITY IN CHRIST
________________________________________
________________________________________
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a
new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold,
the fresh and new has come!
The phrase "in Christ" is a terminology that is used over 300 times in the
New Testament, always referring to a vital union relationship with God.  Once that takes place, you
become a new creature.  Some translations actually say, "a new creation."

This leads to a critical issue which is imperative to understanding your new identity IN Christ.  It did
not take place in the physical realm. It isn't talking about your physical body, saying that you completely
changed, and or that your looks changed.  In fact, You will still have the same body that is, your size
and shape still remains the same, and even the scar on your knee when you fell as a little child will
remain.

What does change in outward appearance is your countenance.  Countenance means outward
behavior, bearing, the way one contains themselves, facial expression which betray a state of mind.  In
other words, the bearing of the countenance traces its wrinkles on the face, from the old man to new
creature in Christ, indicating the inward change, which comes by the new Divine nature you have now
been impregnated with, called the Spirit of Life.

The impregnation of the life of God's Holy Spirit within the spirit of man, now shines His light of truth
in the darkness of your soul and begins a life-long journey, producing fruit of His Spirit which is true
joy, peace, long suffering, patience, kindness and etc
(Galatians 5:22). But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit
[the work which His presence within accomplishes] is love, joy (gladness), peace, patience (an even
temper, forbearance), kindness, goodness (benevolence), faithfulness, 23 Gentleness (meekness,
humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a
charge]. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless
human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. 25 If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also
walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our
conduct controlled by the Spirit.]

It is with our new spirit that we now and can communicate with God, the Almighty Creator of All Things.
The very One who tells us who He is in the book of
Ex 3:14-15  "And God said to Moses, I AM WHO I AM
and WHAT I AM, and I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE; and He said, You shall say this to the Israelites: I AM has
sent me to you!  15 God said also to Moses, This shall you say to the Israelites: The Lord, the God of
your fathers, of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has sent me to you! This is My name forever, and by
this name I am to be remembered to all generations".
God never changes, but He does expect His
people to be changed into the image and likeness of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ!  This is
imperative and necessary in order to belong to His Royal Family of Love, and to enjoy the promised
blessings now and forevermore in His Eternal Kingdom.  This is where your new identity will be found
and will become a living reality, as you learn to live IN CHRIST, to put on Christ, and acquire the Mind
of Christ.

1 Corinthians 14:1  EAGERLY PURSUE and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great
quest]; and earnestly desire and cultivate the spiritual endowments.

Since we are new creatures IN CHRIST, and have the Holy Spirit of God living IN us, and are now called
the temple of the living of God, this means then, that there will be a house cleaning that will take
place.

2 Corinthians 6:16   What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the
temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and
with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

The Holy Spirit was given to every true believer as "earnest" or as a promise to help ensure that this
house would be totally beautified and occupied by Himself, until the final day in which, each and every
one of us, is to be taken and presented to our Lord, Jesus Christ, showing the work of the Spirit
within, howbeit different for each and everyone according to the way and measure we cooperated
with Him.

Your house (temple) should be: 1.  Kept clean.  Sanctification is spiritual cleanliness and process that
should not be put off or taken lightly.  Christ will cleanse and the soul made pure, and this work will
manifest that purity in the outer life. The light of God in the soul will illumine the darkness around. 2.
Your house should be well furnished.  Every Christian needs to be ready to give account for his or her
faith.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  Our mind should be stored only with
remembrance-pictures upon the walls of our heart, which we can look upon with joy, peace and
delight.

The profane and vile images and mental torments which use to hold those places, cannot remain
where the light of Truth shines every so brightly.  Living IN CHRIST and His ways and practicing the
knowledge of the Truth you learn, will be the Spirit of God's life-time work in keeping you sound in
spirit, soul and body.

A wonderful scripture that verifies this is found in:
1 Thessaloians 5:23 And may the God of peace
Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and
wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete
[and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
This passage shows that
we have a spirit, soul and body.  The body part is very obvious.  It is the part of us that is seen, our
outward person.

We all recognize that there is a another part beyond that; our emotional, mental part; which Scripture
calls the soul.  We know that even though a person may not physically touch you, they can touch you
by their words, either in a positive or negative way.  Most people are in tune with the physical, mental
and soulish part of their lives, and sad to say, many Christians never go on to have the renewal or
overcoming work of God's Holy Spirit, grow and blossom into a deep and abiding love for Himself and
others.  Everything begins in the mind and this why the scripture tells us when we come to Christ, we
need His mind.
1 Corinthians 2:16   For who has known or understood the mind (the counsels and
purposes) of the Lord so as to guide and instruct Him and give Him knowledge? But we have the mind
of Christ (the Messiah) and do hold the thoughts (feelings and purposes) of His heart.  For too long,
our minds have been the enemy's playground and whatever came to our minds or suddenly dropped
in, we would act accordingly believing it was the truth.

We lived in the soulish- mental realm and reacted out of unhealed emotions and habitual ways and
responses.   We had lived in the dark too long and now with all provision necessary as a believer IN
CHRIST, we have everything we need to overcome the darkness and every lie associated with it
because we are learning what His heart, will and mind is according to the Truth we are learning.  We
must now believe what God, Our Heavenly Father says about us and learn by the Truth given us, in
His Holy Book of Life, about our new identity which is found in His dear Son, Jesus Christ, through the
work of  the Holy Spirit, and mostly and above all, practice the knowledge of this Truth as a habitual
way of life without duplicity (double-mindedness), compromise or presumption!

Since God promised in the Old Testament, that He would put a new spirit in man through the coming of
the Messiah, this meant that His Spirit dwelling within man, would work in the effort of causing man a
desire to keep and obey God's command to,
"Love the Lord your God, with all of your heart, mind, soul
and whole being, and love your neighbor as yourself.
Ezekiel 36:26-27  A new heart will I give you and a
new spirit will I put within you, and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and give you a
heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall
heed My ordinances and do them.

Our spirit is the part of us that is changed and is renewed after salvation. Luke 11:13  If you then,
though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in
heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"
Upon our salvation, we are impregnated with the
Spirit of Life.  The Holy Spirit comes to live within us to aid us the beautiful process of sanctification.
It is here where we learn and grow up into our new identity and life IN CHRIST JESUS.  The Spirit of Life
and Truth are breathed anew (the divine Life of God) int our spirit, bringing change, healing and
deliverance, creating the new man into God's own image and character.

John 6:63
It is the Spirit Who gives life [He is the Life-giver]; the flesh conveys no benefit whatever [there is no
profit in it]. The words (truths) that I have been speaking to you are spirit and life.

Anyone who lives without the Spirit of God merely exists.  People like this, may be enjoying life as they
know it, in their comfort, nice clothes, rich food, nice friends in the same boat with them, but they are
only existing.

1 John 5:11-12   And this is that testimony (that evidence): God gave us eternal life, and
this life is in His Son.  He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of
God does not have that life.

The Holy Spirit is the only source of this Divine Life.  Jesus sent His Spirit to the earth to lead us into
this precious and eternal divine life.  The Holy Spirit is heavens Divine Administrator on earth, in each
and every true believer's life.  He was sent to be the administrator in our lives, to divinely and
spiritually "tear down, rebuild, change, renew and establish Himself as an authority in our lives!

Ephesians 2:1-3  And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once
walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit
who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in
the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of
wrath, just as the others.

We know we were alive before we were born again, but the word "dead" is speaking of the spiritual.
Death in the Bible doesn't mean ceasing to exist, as some people today think of it.  It literally means
"separation".  When a person physically dies, they don't cease to exist.  The Bible teaches that they go
immediately into the presence of God or into the presence of hell.  The soul and spirit continue to live,
but there is a separation from the physical body, which dies and decays.

When in
Genesis 2:17  says,
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in
the day that you eat of it you shall surely die
...this didn't mean they would die physically but spiritually,
that they would become separated from God.  The spirit, is the part that God breathes into us, (and
actually gives life and motivation), became separated from God's supernatural life...His holy and
complete life.

What the Bible calls in Greek, "Zoe" or "life, is in an absolute and abundant true sense of the word,
what the sincere seeker in Christ is guaranteed to find as they abide continually with Him and in Him.

Man began to degenerate.  He still functioned, but he was functioning independent, separated from
God. This is what causes all the problems in our lives, and all of our depression, emotional stress,
oppression, and confusion, unhappiness, mental torments and so on.

However when a person truly comes to the Lord, they receive a new spirit and are born again, which is
the terminology Jesus used in
John 3:5.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, I assure you, most solemnly I tell
you, unless a man is born of water and [even] the Spirit, he cannot [ever] enter the kingdom of God.
In the same way man is born physically with a spirit, soul, and body, when he is born again, he receives
the Spirit of Christ.

Galatians 4:6  And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the [Holy] Spirit of His Son into
our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father.
God literally places His Spirit inside of us, and we now have
a new quality of life, a new identity, and are a totally new person in our spirits.

Your spirit becomes completely changed.  It is the exact same spirit you will have throughout eternity.

It already has love, joy, peace, and is full of the presence of God (Holy Spirit), if you are truly  living In
Christ.  There is no lack or inadequacy in your spirit, but you must perceive and experience this for
yourself.  It is for this reason, that studying the Word of God is so vital to the Christian way of life.  You
are a totally brand-new person, but until you learn the knowledge of the Truth and practice what you
learn without duplicity, you will not change.  Victory in the Christian life comes when you are able to
look
into the Word, which is Spirit and life, to see who you are and see what God has done, and begin to
believe it and then live it.

[His] indignation, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God — so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in
order to satisfy the great andwonderful and intense love with which He loved us,

5 Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made
us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ

mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved ( delivered from judgment and
made partakers of Christ's salvation).

1 Corinthians 6:9-10
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any

nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor those who participate in homosexuality, 10 Nor cheats (swindlers
and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor
extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any
share in the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 6:11
And such some of you were [once]. But you were washed clean (purified by a complete
atonement for sin and made free from the guilt of sin), and you were consecrated (set apart,
hallowed), and you were justified [pronounced righteous, by trusting] in the name of the Lord
Jesus Christ and in the [Holy] Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:17
