2 Timothy 3:16
Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and
conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness
(in holy living, in conformity to God's will in thought, purpose, and action)...
.
RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ONE TRUE GOD
The very fact that the Bible is God-breathed and given by the divine inspiration of His Holy Spirit ought to
satisfy every believer that the Truth of Scripture, is of God and not of man.  It is God's word to us and
speaks with the authority of God to us regarding many things in right living and moral rectitude according
to His righteous standards.  One of the most important revelations we can receive from the Bible is the
understanding of God's nature and character.  This study (the Nature of God) is also included in this
series for your growth and edification.  In order to have a relationship with anyone,  you must understand
and get to know the individual you are going to have that relationship with.  This also applies to God.  You
need to understand the basic nature and Character of God in order to have a healthy relationship with
Him.  By misunderstanding His character and nature is one of the main reasons by which many people do
not have a positive relationship with Him or His Son, Jesus Christ, through the indwelling of the Holy
Spirit.

God wants us to know Him and worship Him personally.  This can only happen through the work of the
Holy Spirit in our lives.  Without precious Holy Spirit, we may know about God, but we will not know Him
and experience a deep and abiding fellowship with Him.  God reveals Himself to us through the Word and
the Spirit working together as we earnestly, honestly and sincerely desire to cultivate and have this kind
of communion with the Almighty God who has created all things by His creative power, energy, and Word.

The Spirit of the Lord will never reveal God as being different to what the Scriptures reveal. We must not
believe every spirit, but test the spirits.
1 John 4:1  BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove
(test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth
into the world.

There are many, many religions in the world today that seek to capture the heart and mind of man.  These
religions consist in a mix of beliefs about the world and what we must do to be all we should be.  These
religions derive their main sources from the traditions of men, culture, philosophies of men and from the
inspiration of Satan and his evil spirits.  It is always in the effort of man working to make himself better.
This is called humanism.  The Webster's Dictionary defines "humanism" in these terms or ways:
Humanism is a doctrine, attitude, or way of life centered on human interests or values; especially : a
philosophy that usually rejects supernaturalism and stresses an individual's dignity and worth and
capacity for self-realization through reason (the mind).  The power of false religion comes from Satan
and his evil spirits.  Like occultism, false religion is a tool of Satan to deceive people.  If necessary, Satan
will use vision, dreams and miracles to enslave people in false ways.  Many times all he needs to do is to
appeal to the pride of man.  The desire of man to improve himself and be praised by others in an
insatiable longing in unregenerated man and woman.
Proverbs 27:21  The purity of silver and gold can be
tested in a crucible, but a man is tested by his reaction to men's praise.

All forms of Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Animism and other non-christian religions, while perhaps
containing some elements of truth here and there, are basically the product of evil spirits and doctrines
of demons through the fallen minds of men and women.  Jesus said, "I am the door of the sheep.  All who
ever came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. "
(John 10:7-8)  All witch
doctors, shamans and religious teachers of non-Biblical doctrines and practices being used by Satan to
destroy the souls of men, whether they know it or not.  Even in this life the destruction coming from their
teaching is evident.

True Christianity is not a religion bound up with "rules to do" which put men into bondage with a set
rituals, observances, traditions, and customs, but instead it is all about relationship and communion with
God. Many large so-called churches have mixed much paganism and religious tradition and customs
with their instruction in the Bible, and therefore then, teach a false way of salvation that puts many
stumbling blocks in the way of their members who trust in this way.  Many teach that man must save
himself through rituals, good works, and faithfulness to the organization.  This is not what the Truth in
Scripture teaches in our Godly instruction.
Ephesians 2:8-9  For it is by free grace (God's unmerited
favor) that you are saved ( delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ's salvation) through
[your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own
striving], but it is the gift of God; Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law's demands], lest any
man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or
take glory to himself.]

We as God's children, are called to obey Him and worship Him in Spirit and truth.
 (John 4:24).  Without
the Spirit leading and guiding us in this progressive process, it will certainly and definitely not be in
"truth".  We worship God because of Who He Is, and not for what He can give us.  We must worship
sincerely from our heart, and according to the truth the Bible reveals about who He is and what He
desires from us in this quest in getting to truly know Him and have intimate fellowship with Him in the
way He demands of us.  He is God and He decides the way His created beings will come to Him.  No ritual
or religious observance or act of charity can ever substitute for our first duty to worship God and Him
alone for Who He Is.
God, in our relationship with Himself, wants us to know who we worship.  We cannot know what God is
like except through what He shows of Himself in the Scriptures.  We cannot decide who God is, and we
cannot know the truth about Him guided by our limited reasoning power alone.  A committee of men
cannot decide who God is by merely taking a democratic vote.  God cannot accept religious compromise
or traditions filled with customs of men, which contradict His Word, no matter how many people want to
follow them. His Word is the final authority in matters of relationship, fellowship, worship and faith in
Himself.

God has made clear throughout all the generations of time by stating in the Book of Life,  " You shall have
no other gods before or besides Me.  You shall not make yourself any graven image [to worship it] or any
likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water
under the earth;  You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a
jealous God..
(Exodus 20:3-5).  Jesus stated in the New Testament Scripture (Matthew 4:10)  when Satan
came to tempt Him, this very same mandate, Then Jesus said to him, Begone, Satan! For it has been
written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him alone shall you serve.  The second commandment
in essence says that we must not falsely represent who God is and worship a God of our own
imagination, a god of our desires or a god of preferences.  We cannot represent God or pray to God using
pieces of art, objects, or pictures.  We must certainly not worship or pray to any such representations.
Doing this insults the heart of God.  It would be like someone representing you by a picture of pig, dog or
cockroach.

God is Spirit and worship of God must be in Spirit and Truth.   This is God's way for all of His children to
come to Him in relationship which grows in intimate fellowship or communion with Him.  Again, if the Holy
Spirit is not leading and directing in this awesome and beautiful privilege of communicating with the Most
High God, then this worship will be false and a lie, and not only that, but will be soulish and directed by
Satan the devil and his cohorts.   Now there several ways in which God reveals Himself to us in order that
we may have the relationship with Him that He so longs for.  This is why we were created.  God reveals
Himself to us first, through His creation
(Psalms 19:1-2; Romans 1:19).  Secondly, through our
consciences
(Romans 2:15; Hebrews 9:14). Thirdly, through the Bible (Luke 11:28)  Fourth, through Jesus
Christ
(Luke 24:31), then fifth through direct revelation by the Holy Spirit, (Acts 2:17; Ephesians 3:5;
Ephesians 1:17),
and sixth is through Christians who are filled with God's Spirit (Luke 1:41-55 ;Acts
4:8-13; Acts 13:9-12).
A seventh way God reveals Himself to us is through dreams and visions.  (Genesis
20:3; Genesis 28:12; Genesis 31:24; Genesis 37:5; Daniel 7:1; Joel 2:28; Matthew 1:20; Matthew 2:22;  Acts
18:9; Revelations 9:17).
Apostle Paul shows us in the New Testament in Philippians 3:10, the high calling of God, is indeed that all
true believers IN Christ Jesus, know Him and His Father in an intimate and deep way,  which is a
progressive path as we yield ourselves in obedience and reverent fear and awe of Who He Is.

Philippians
3:10 [For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more
deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the
wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know
the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His
sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]

The heart cry of Apostle Paul was to know God, to have fellowship with Him, and to share with Him in
every aspect of his life.  This beautiful example ought to be the pattern for all true lovers of God and His
Son, Jesus Christ, Who made all things possible through His death, burial, and resurrection.

If there is no progress in our relationship with God and His Son, Jesus Christ, through the internal
working of the Holy Spirit, there will only be backsliding.  Paul considered Jesus the prize of the high
calling of God.  Not only is Jesus our Salvation, our King, our Hope, our Glory, but He is the epitome or
embodiment of Eternal Life itself.  He is our great promise and high prize.  Do not neglect your
opportunity to know the Pearl of Great Price in your lifetime!  He is Costly.
